Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have expressed confidence that the party is on course to reclaim power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections.
The APC chieftains made the declaration on Saturday during the launch of a book authored by News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent, Akeem Abas, in honour of his father, Pharmacist Olayide Abas, who is also the Oyo State APC Chairman. The book, A Life of Principle: The Olayide Moshood Abas Story, was presented as part of activities marking the elder Abas’s 76th birthday.
The event drew prominent party stakeholders, including Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (Oyo South), House of Representatives member for Ido/Ibarapa East, Aderemi Oseni, APC senatorial aspirant for Oyo Central, Wasiu Ademola Alli, and governorship aspirant, Barrister Akeem Agbaje.

Others in attendance included former Oluyole Council Chairman, Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, APC Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, Idris Lapade, Architect Hassan Giwa, Yemi Aderibigbe, Senator Kola Balogun, and the Oyo State NUJ Chairman, Ademola Babalola.
Addressing journalists, Senator Alli dismissed claims of division within the party and declared that APC was fully prepared to reclaim the governorship seat.
“There is no problem in Oyo State APC. By the special grace of God, APC is coming to take over Oyo State in 2027. The President has also assured us,” Alli said.
In his remarks, Barrister Agbaje maintained that the APC remains the strongest political force in the state, noting that unity among members would guarantee victory over the PDP.
“APC has always been the strongest party in Oyo State. And once we are united, we will always defeat the PDP,” Agbaje stated.
The APC lost the governorship to Governor Seyi Makinde of the PDP in both the 2019 and 2023 elections.
