The Zamfara State Government has debunked reports claiming that Governor Dauda Lawal is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued in Gusau, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Press and Public Affairs, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, described the reports as false, baseless, and misleading.
Kaura maintained that there was no truth to the speculation, insisting that Governor Lawal remains a committed member of the PDP under which he was elected during the 2023 general elections.
“The mandate given to Governor Dauda Lawal was through the PDP, and there is no reason for him to abandon the party that brought him to power,” Kaura said.
He urged members of the public to disregard the rumours, adding that the PDP in Zamfara remains united, focused, and committed to the state’s development agenda.
Kaura further noted that Governor Lawal’s administration remains focused on delivering good governance, strengthening security, and fulfilling campaign promises made to the people of Zamfara State.
