Country music legend Dolly Parton has said that receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the 2025 Governors Awards is a blessing. Recall that she was recently honoured at the 2025 Governors Awards, and fans have been reacting.
Speaking in a video message, Parton revealed that it is a great honour to earn such recognition and she considers it a blessing of a lifetime.

According to her, she never takes giving for granted because growing up in a home with 12 children taught her the art of helping from a very young age.
Parton stated that her parents always told her that the more she gives out, the more she gets back.
“I grew up in a house with 12 kids. Now, that alone teaches you how important sharing is. Don’t get me wrong, we didn’t have that much to share. But my mom and daddy showed me by example that the more you give, the more blessings come your way.
I’ve tried my whole life to live by their example and I’ve been blessed more than I ever dreamed possible. Like this award tonight — The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences,” she said.
Dolly further noted that the award is more inspiration for her to find new ways to help the needy across the globe.
The veteran singer concluded by saying that she’ll never take any form of humanitarian effort for granted.
“It’s an honor just to be considered … I don’t take this kind of thing lightly.
It makes me want to dream up new ways to help lift people up. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to be here for? So from my heart to yours, I truly thank you,” she added.
