Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo State have rejected the continued stay in office of the acting chairman, Olusola Tokunbo Adekanbi, demanding that he and his team immediately vacate their positions.
The members, who made the call during an emergency meeting held in Ibadan on Thursday, insisted that the elected chairman, Jelili Asukuna, and other duly elected officials must be allowed to assume their rightful roles.

The meeting, attended by hundreds of APC members from the eleven electoral wards in the local government area, was convened to address what they described as lingering issues affecting the party’s cohesion and progress.
Moving the motion for the removal of the acting chairman, party chieftain Adekunle Abass Akande said the decision was necessary to restore order and ensure that the party functions under legitimate leadership.
“We want the elected executives to occupy their rightful positions. Those who are ruling us are not the authentic executives,” Akande told journalists.
“We want the authentic and recognised chairman and all other executive members to take over. We elected them, and they are the ones recognised by the party at the national level. There is no crisis here.”
Akande stressed that the continued stay of the acting executive was unacceptable and that party members had resolved that Adekanbi and his team should “step aside without delay.”
Also speaking, a former leader of the Ibadan North West legislative arm, Remi Ajanaku, said the decision was taken to restore sanity within the party.
“Our resolution today is that we have asked the acting chairman to step aside and allow the authentic chairman to take over. We took the decision to correct some illegal things happening within the party,” he said.
The members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party at the grassroots level and urged leaders at the state and national levels to intervene where necessary to uphold internal democracy.
