The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election, insisting that recent resignations by some members will not affect the party’s chances at the polls.
The party stated that it remains united, focused, and determined to secure victory in the forthcoming election despite the departure of some members.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the party described the resignations as an orchestrated attempt to create a false impression of instability within its ranks.
“The party remains undaunted and unshakeable despite the departures and believes the development will not hinder the campaign of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 election,” the statement read.
The APC appealed to its members and supporters across the state to remain committed to the party, noting that defections and resignations are common occurrences during election periods.
“We want to appeal to the ever-loyal members and highly committed supporters of our party that what we are witnessing in the political sphere in the state is not strange and it is peculiar to election seasons,” the party stated.
According to the APC, the resignations had been anticipated and would not distract its governorship candidate from ongoing campaign activities across the state.
The party added that the development had further strengthened the resolve of its members and supporters to work harder toward achieving victory in the election.
It also commended members who have remained with the party, describing them as loyal and steadfast supporters committed to its success.
“The party is confident that its governorship candidate will emerge victorious and maintains that no political alliance or arrangement will prevent it from achieving its objective at the polls,” the statement added.
The APC further criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging that it had failed to adequately address challenges in key sectors such as education, healthcare, commerce, and the economy.
The opposition party argued that celebrations by its political opponents over the resignations were misplaced, pointing out that it had recently welcomed several prominent politicians from other parties into its fold.
It urged members and supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation and continue canvassing support across the state, expressing confidence that the APC would reclaim power in the forthcoming governorship election.
