Osun IPAC crisis: Caretaker chairman asks INEC to disregard Odeyemi

The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Osun State, Odesola Oluseye Titus, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard statements credited to Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, insisting that he does not speak for the council.

Titus said Odeyemi lacked the authority to issue directives or make official representations on behalf of IPAC in the state, maintaining that only the caretaker committee recognised by the national leadership of the council is empowered to act in that capacity.

He described recent comments attributed to Odeyemi concerning the activities of IPAC and the forthcoming Osun State governorship election as misleading and capable of creating confusion among political parties and the electorate.

According to Titus, the caretaker committee remains the legitimate leadership of IPAC in Osun and is committed to promoting peaceful political engagement and supporting efforts aimed at ensuring a credible governorship election.

He called on INEC, political parties and other stakeholders to recognise and relate only with the duly constituted caretaker committee on matters concerning the council’s activities in the state.

The caretaker chairman also appealed to members of political parties to remain law-abiding and avoid actions capable of undermining the electoral process ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to fostering unity among political parties and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, free and credible electoral process in Osun State.
