The Lagos State Police Command has intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections by training its personnel on election security management to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
The command disclosed that its officers recently participated in a five-day Election Security Management Training organised by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).

The training took place from Monday, October 26, to Friday, October 30, 2026, and brought together mainly personnel of the Lagos State Police Command, alongside officers from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos, Zone 2 Headquarters, the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) and the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
The Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday through the command’s official social media platform.
According to the statement, the programme was designed to equip officers with the knowledge and practical skills required to manage security challenges associated with elections.
The training covered professionalism, political neutrality, impartiality, respect for human rights, crowd management, inter-agency cooperation and strict adherence to the rule of law.
The command said the initiative was part of ongoing efforts to improve the operational readiness of its personnel and strengthen their ability to respond effectively to election-related security threats.
The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his commitment to personnel development and professional policing.
Fatai also appreciated the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for providing the opportunity for officers to participate in the specialised training.
The commissioner stressed the importance of preparing security personnel ahead of the elections, noting that effective election security requires professionalism, impartiality and respect for the rights of all participants.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property before, during and after the 2027 general elections.
It also assured residents that measures would be taken to safeguard the electoral process and create an environment in which voters can exercise their democratic rights peacefully and without intimidation.
The training forms part of broader efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to prepare personnel across the country for the security demands of the 2027 elections, with particular emphasis on neutrality, accountability and the prevention of electoral violence.
