A former Minister of Petroleum, Dr. Rilwanu Lukman is dead.
He reportedly died this morning in Austria.
He was aged 76.
The late Lukman, an engineer, served at various time as a Special Adviser on Petroleum and Energy Matters to the President, Minister of Mines, Power and Steel and also served as Secretary General of OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) from 1 January 1995 to 31 December 2000.
He was born in Zaria, Kaduna State on 26 August 1938.
