A SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO KWARA STATE GOVERNOR ON ARTS, CULTURE AND TOURISM, FEMI ADEBAYO, DURING A PRESS CONFERENCE SHOWCASING THE BEAUTIFUL CULTURES AND TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN KWARA TO THE DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN INVESTORS, AT KAYODE OBEMBE HALL, 56 OLOWU STREET, MOBOLAJI BANK ANTHONY IKEJA TODAY 11TH MAY, 2016.
Good day gentlemen of the press, my colleagues in the entertainment industry, cultural heritage promoters, tourism investors in our midst, distinguished ladies and gentlemen.
I am most honoured and privileged to be appointed as the Special Assistant on Arts, Culture and Tourism by His Excellency, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State, from among such distinguished men and women in the Nigerian entertainment industry. It’s indeed, a clarion call to serve my state and the country at large.
Kwara State is rich in many beautiful and valuable cultures which are as a result of many ethnic groups like Nupe, Fulani, Yoruba, Baruba among others that make up the state. However, Kwara State Government in her responsibility to make known to the world, those beautiful and valuable cultures in the state, through my good office and Kwara State Ministry of Culture and Tourism in partnership with some private organizations, organizes a command stage play tagged ‘ASA WA’ (OUR CULTURE), which would showcase the Kwara Cultural Heritages to the world and attract domestic and foreign investors.
The command stage play, which is a joint performance of more than twenty (20) top Nollywood actors and our highly talented artists at the Kwara State Council For Arts and Culture, would take place on Friday 27th May, 2016 at the Banquet Hall, Opposite Kwara State Government House, Ilorin by 4pm. I like to also bring to your notice that during the stage play, there will be a display of Kwara made products and art gallery.
The red carpet event which will be made more entertaining by legendary stand up comedians is aimed at not only creating the awareness of the various cultural endowments of the ethnic groups in Kwara State, which will in turn be a source of viable revenue for the state, but also blending local artists at the Kwara State Council for Arts and Culture with Nollywood stars for more professional artistry.
Some of the top Nollywood stars expected at the event include: Yinka Quadri, Bimbo Osin, Odunade Adekola, Fatia Balogun, Muyiwa Ademola, Lasun Ray, Dotun Taylor, Aishat Lawal, Olaniyi Afonja (Sanyeri), Adekola Tijani (Kamilu Kompo), Lateef Adedimeji, Flaky Ididowo and many others.
Without overemphasis, the programme is the first of its kind and certainly going to be entertaining, educative and memorable. So, it is worth not missing.
Thank you all as I remain the very truly yours.
