The Abia State House of Assembly has urged the people of Amaoba Ime Community and the authority of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umdike to continue to contribute their own quota in governance and development of Abia State in particular and Nigeria in general within the confines of the law as well as live peacefully with one another.
Reporting progress during the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Boundary and Security Matters on a petition titled “unlawful encroachment on the ancestral land of Amaoba Ime Autonomous Community in Ikwuano Local Government Area by the leadership of Michael Okpara University of Agriuc allure, Umdike” in the committee of the whole, the speaker, Rt Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu called on Abia State Government to appropriately acquire the eight (8) hectares of land lying close to the already acquired 171.14 hectares of land from Amaoba Ime for’ Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike and adequate compensation paid to the donor community, Amaoba Ime.
The House further directed Amaoba Ime Autonomous Community and the Authorities of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike or any other agencies/representatives to steer clear of the disputed area of land pending the fulfillment of proper acquisition and payment of adequate compensation to the donor community.
