The pan-northern socio-political organization, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, on Saturday pleaded with the Boko Haram sect to accept the amnesty offer by the Federal Government in the interest of peace and reconciliation.
ACF, in a statement issued in Kaduna by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, said the sect must cease further hostilities and shedding of innocent blood.
The statement also condoled with the government and people of Borno State over the murder of the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Idrissa Timta, by the insurgents on Friday.
“ACF appeals to the Boko Haram members to accept and embrace the amnesty proposal of the Federal Government, and stop the wanton destruction of lives and property of innocent people.
“The Forum further calls on governments at all levels to show transparency in the execution of the amnesty programme in the interest of peace and reconciliation”.
The statement noted that the insurgents were killing innocent people for no just cause, adding that the group must stop the carnage and embrace peace.
The ACF prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Emir of Gwoza, who was buried on Saturday and for his family to have the fortitude to bear the loss.
