Governor Bala Ngilari of Adamawa State has distanced himself from the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed on the state by the Commissioner of Police, Gabriel Adaji.
Mr. Adaji had while briefing newsmen on the preparation of the state police command for the governorship and state assembly elections currently ongoing, said the curfew was imposed to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
“After the last presidential and national assembly elections, we had some nasty and ugly experiences in the state, hence the present measure”, the CP explained.
In a statement Saturday, Governor Ngilari said “the state government has not imposed any curfew on the State”.
He added that the government has already contacted the state police command to clarify the motive behind the imposition of the curfew, which would run from April 12 to 14 between the hours of 6pm and 6am.
