The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has produced two state chairmen following parallel congresses held on Tuesday and Thursday, deepening the party’s leadership crisis.
The development reflects ongoing internal disputes involving longstanding members and recent defectors from other political parties.
At the Tuesday congress, Musa Wamba was returned as state chairman, while Nasir Umar emerged as secretary-general.

However, a separate congress conducted on Thursday by another faction produced Mohammed Rimi as chairman and Abubakar Adhama as secretary-general.
Officials of the party’s national secretariat had earlier rejected the Tuesday exercise, describing it as unauthorised and insisting that recognised congresses were scheduled for later dates.
The crisis comes amid growing tensions within the party following the defection of several politicians, with disagreements over leadership structure and control.
Both factions have maintained their positions, further heightening uncertainty over the party’s leadership in the state.
