The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has described former Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, as the first female President Nigeria never had.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Minister, Hajiya Zainab Maina, also commiserated with the family, Government and people of Anambra over the untimely passing away of Akunyili.
Maina described the deceased as a woman of uncommon courage and commitment to project Nigeria, adding that Nigerian women had lost a great ambassador of womanhood.
She added that the late Akunyili, who died on Saturday in an Indian hospital after a prolonged battle with cancer, was a patriotic public servant, who had sacrificed her personal comfort and her life in the service of the country.
The Minister prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Akunyili, and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
