Unai Emery has said midfielder Alex Iwobi is close to signing a contract extension.
Iwobi, 22, came through the club’s Hale End academy before establishing himself as a first-team regular under Arsene Wenger.
“I have the information — he is near,” Emery said at a news conference in Singapore ahead of Saturday’s preseason game against Paris Saint-Germain. “My information is that he is going to sign and continue with us.”
Iwobi, Mesut Ozil and Mohamed Elneny joined up with their teammates for the flight to Singapore after their post-World Cup breaks but did not play in the friendly against Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
However, they could feature against PSG following a week of training.
