When Senator Ibikunle Amosun assumed the Ogun State Governorship seat on May 29, 2011, we had thought his victory and emergence would herald further development to the state as witnessed during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reign of Otunba (Engr) Gbenga Daniel (2003-2011). Rather than do as expected, Amosun chose to embark on politics of calumny, vengeance and vendetta against the people of Ogun State. He took actions to basically reverse the gains of the past regime, deliberately abandoned the people oriented projects and threw the residents into discomfort and enslavement.
However, relief has come. As we have it now, PDP under the governorship candidacy of Hon (Dr) Ladi Adebutu, is determined and resolute to ensure that all the uncompleted and completed but abandoned projects of the OGD administration are completed and rejuvenated to the benefit of mankind. Not only that, all ongoing projects of Sen Amosun that may remain uncompleted in the course of its exit from power on May 29, 2019 will enjoy priority attention from the government to be led by Adebutu when elected in 2019.
For the record purposes, we are set to highlight some of the retrogressive actions taken by Governor Amosun against the people of Ogun State, home and abroad, thereby denying them growth and development, access to easy life and loss of pride of the state among the Comity of States.
INTERNATIONAL MARKET, SAGAMU
The market was constructed with the singular aim to aid commerce and make it the center of international trading.
Valued at N1.1bn, the 2,500 stall capacity market was established in 2005 by Otunba Gbenga Daniel regime.
The structures are dilapidated, rooftops are detached, weed taken over the space, comfort facilities are rotten. Its purely a shadow of itself.
IMPLICATIONS OF THE ACTION
The International Market was a completed project but deliberately abandoned by APC Senator Amosun till date.
1. It denies the people trading opportunities on a large scale.
2. The action also jettisoned direct and indirect employment opportunities for many job seekers who would have been gainfully employed.
3. It denies physical and infrastructural development to the area.
4. Loss of revenue to the purse of the government.
ADEBUTU’S TARGETS
1. To rehabilitate the market.
2. To ensure it’s full capacity utilisation.
3. To facilitate international trading.
4. To use the market as an avenue for job creation for the people.
Hon Ladi Adebutu is determined to ensure the good people of the gateway state have access to genuine dividends of democracy and prosperity reigns supreme in Ogun State.
To be continued…
