The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has dismissed allegations by opposition politicians that her husband, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, is arrogant and unwilling to accept other opinions.
Speaking with journalists at the Anambra Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia, Mrs. Soludo refuted the claims, describing her husband as a jovial and approachable individual who enjoys good humor and is deeply committed to his family.
According to her, Soludo’s perceived seriousness is often mistaken for arrogance, but in reality, he is simply focused and dedicated to his responsibilities.

She recalled their time together at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he was a lecturer, emphasizing that his strictness at work did not reflect his true personality.
“My husband has always been a serious-minded person from his days as a lecturer. Of course, he is very jovial, but when he sets his mind on something, he gives it his best. That is why people think he is overly serious,” she said.
She recounted how some students at UNN viewed Soludo as overly strict, leading her friends to wonder how she managed their relationship.
However, she noted that behind his work ethic, he was fun-loving and enjoyed cracking jokes.
On his tenure as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mrs. Soludo revealed that their family faced multiple threats, leading her to withdraw their children from school and eventually relocate them abroad.
Despite the risks, she said Soludo remained resolute, believing he was pursuing a just cause for the country.
She also debunked claims that the governor is unapproachable, asserting that he values diverse opinions and encourages open dialogue.
“I don’t know where people got this impression that he doesn’t listen or is not approachable. I think it’s politicians that are spreading such falsehoods,” she added.
The Anambra First Lady urged residents to disregard misinformation and judge the governor based on his actions and governance style.
