Five-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo has become the first Black African to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The icon was recently recognized in a glitzy ceremony under palm trees and picture-perfect California skies, and fans have been reacting.
Kidjo was feted by film stars and music industry titans as she unveiled the star on the busy thoroughfare.

Offering thanks to her team and family, Angelique stated that music would not be the same without African singers scattered across the globe.
Her words, “We Africans don’t know what we’ve given to the world.
Without us, there’s no music possible on this planet.”
Born in Benin, Kidjo has built an international career spanning more than 40 years and 18 albums.
