Olugbenga Araoyinbo, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who vied for the ticket in the primary election for the Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State, has rejected the results of the exercise, citing irregularities.
In a petition addressed to the national leadership of the APC, Araoyinbo raised concerns about the conduct of the primary election, alleging that it was marred by irregularities.
He specifically mentioned that the guidelines set by the party for the conduct of the primary were not adhered to.

The primary election, which was held in preparation for the February 3 by-election, saw Ifeoluwa Ehindero emerge as the winner.
However, Araoyinbo expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome, stating that the process did not meet the party’s stipulated standards.
Araoyinbo highlighted several issues that he believes compromised the integrity of the primary election.
He pointed out that no congress was held in the two local governments that make up the constituency before the primary, as required by the party’s guidelines.
Additionally, he claimed that the delegates’ lists were not made available to the aspirants before the election took place.
“Over 90 genuine, committed, and faithful party members from across the 23 electoral wards who paid for and collected forms to participate in the delegate congress were excluded as the delegate congress did not hold as scheduled,” Araoyinbo stated in his petition.
He further alleged that “fake and unknown persons were injected into a fake delegate list,” which was not disclosed to the aspirants before the primary election.
Araoyinbo’s rejection of the primary election results raises questions about the transparency and fairness of the process.
As the APC addresses his concerns, the outcome of the primary election and its implications for the upcoming by-election remain subjects of interest and scrutiny.
