A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has announced his resignation from the ruling party, citing dissatisfaction with its leadership and direction.
Eze disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, attributing his decision to what he described as the “brazen ineptitude” of the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu.
He also hinted at his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Reflecting on his role in the formation of the APC, Eze expressed regret for supporting the party and encouraging Nigerians to embrace it, stating that it has now lost its founding ideals.
According to him, the APC has been reduced to “a congregation of minions and puppets” serving the interests of President Tinubu.
He criticised the government’s economic policies, noting that the naira has continued to depreciate despite earlier promises to strengthen its value against the dollar.
Eze also decried the worsening security situation, alleging that the country has become unsafe for citizens, with killings, displacement, and renewed insurgent activities across parts of the North-East and North-Central regions.
He further accused the administration of failing in key sectors such as agriculture and education, claiming that farmers are being displaced into Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps while the education sector has deteriorated significantly.
The APC chieftain also raised concerns over what he described as declining democratic standards, alleging that Nigeria is being pushed towards a one-party state, while corruption has become entrenched under the current government.
Eze criticised the president’s foreign trips amid domestic challenges, alleging a lack of adequate response to insecurity and humanitarian crises.
He further accused the APC of suppressing opposition voices, citing alleged disruptions of opposition activities in some parts of the country.
Eze maintained that the current state of affairs in the country necessitated his exit from the APC, stressing that he could no longer remain in a party he believes has failed to deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
