The All Progressives Congress, APC, clarified that Dr. Salihu Lukman, the party’s credited National Vice Chairman, North-west, did not express the party’s official opinion on the matter of who should serve as party chairman, and that the statement to which he was attributed was his own.
It was announced that the party’s college of leaders is unanimous in its pursuit of progressive reforms.
Infostride News readers may recall that on Friday, Lukman issued a statement calling “insensitive” the widespread speculation that former Kano State Governor Abdulahi Ganduje may become the next national chairman of the party.
But in a statement released on Saturday, Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary, insisted that the ruling party was not in crisis.
According to him, media reports speculating on discord inside the NWC or between the NWC and other key parts of the party’s leadership over who would succeed the current National Chairman are completely unfounded.
The swift and smooth transition in acting capacities to both offices, according to the spokesman, is evidence of the efficacy of its constitutional processes.
Morka argued that the aforementioned resignations proved the party’s leadership is mature and of high quality, putting the party’s interests ahead of their own.
He declared, “The entire college of leadership in the Party is solidly behind our effort to make the Party more progressive.
The views expressed by individual Party leaders and members are their own and do not reflect the views of the NWC or the Party as a whole.
In the event of a vacancy in NWC leadership, or on any other matter, the NWC’s official position will be notified through the appropriate channels. Any person or organization will inevitably undergo transformation.
According to Morka, the APC is the largest political party in Africa because of its ability to adapt to change and new reality, making it immune to the predictions of pessimists.
