Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party born out of anger, malice, and bitterness, asserting that it has never been a serious political organization.
Lamido made the remarks in his autobiography titled “Being True to Myself”, specifically in Chapter 16, Page 421, which was unveiled to the public on May 13.
According to Newsmen, Lamido, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed shock over the defection of some of his colleagues to the APC ahead of the 2015 general elections, stating that he distanced himself from their decision.

“I once had cause to explain to some members of the public after the APC was formed, that it was created out of anger, malice and hatred. It was not and has never been a serious political party; its proponents were only parochial scavengers, who see politics as a huge enterprise,” he wrote.
The former governor traced the evolution of the opposition, recalling the 1999 general elections in which the PDP, Alliance for Democracy (AD), and All Peoples Party (APP) were the major political parties. He noted that the AD and APP had jointly fielded Chief Olu Falae against the PDP’s Olusegun Obasanjo, but lost.
“The AD/APP alliance later dissolved into the ANPP, but they lost the elections; it was these losers that later came together to establish the APC,” he added.
Lamido also criticized the APC for what he called a deliberate distortion of history, accusing the party of promoting false narratives and elevating a so-called “Mr. Integrity” to mislead Nigerians.
He further revealed that during the internal crisis within the PDP, he was approached by APC promoters to defect, but he declined.
“I turned down several requests by promoters of the APC to join their ranks. The honourable thing to do was to stay in PDP and be part of the solution,” he stated.
