APGA Not Looking Out For Power-Shift In Abia State – Chief Nnanna Ukegbu

All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia said the party was not part of the agitation for the zoning of the governorship position to Abia South in the state.
    .
The state Chairman of the party, Chief Nnanna Ukegbu, made this known in an interview in Umuahia on Friday. Ukaegbu said that such agitation for the zoning of the governorship seat to Abia South was not in the best interest of the people.
    .
He added that the arrangement, if allowed to materialise, was capable of breeding mediocrity in government.
    .
The chairman said that the party would not stop any aspirant wishing to serve the state in whatever capacity because doing so was undemocratic.
    .
“We will consider every aspirant based on his or her qualities and ability to deliver because we don’t see government as avenue for sharing, which is what zoning represents,” he said.
    .
According to him, what is paramount in politics is to give all stakeholders equal opportunity to engage in processes of serving the people in the best interest of the state.
    .
“That is what APGA represents and we shall uphold internal democracy in choosing our candidates for future elections,” he said.
    .
He said the party was not resting on its oars as it had commenced mobilisation of members across the state for support, adding that the response had been very encouraging.
    .
Ukegbu denied insinuations in some quarters that leadership crisis in the party at the national level had dampened the morale of party members in Abia.
    .
“It is not true that our members are defecting to other political parties in Abia because APGA is more than a political party.
    .
“We keep on receiving defectors from other parties and it will be wrong to say that we are losing members to other parties.
    .
“We are neither perturbed nor losing sleep over whatever crisis people may think exist in APGA,” Ukegbu said.
