Though details of the court’s judgement are still sketchy, his mandate was upheld on Monday, December 7.
Theinfostride recalls that the election tribunal sitting in Ogun state had in October nullified the election of Kashamu, who is representing Ogun East Senatorial district.
Kashamu however appealed the tribunal nullification, in which he has been vindicated.
It would also be recalled that for several months this year, the senator had been enmeshed in 1998 drug case in United States.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had sought to extradite him for drug charges levelled against him in Chicago in 1998.
The agency placed Kashamu on house arrest on Saturday, May 23, 2015 after attempts to apprehend him failed.
The Senator-elect had since denied the charges against him citing a case of mistaken identitiy.
