Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday commissioned and handed over 20 Armoured Personnel Carriers, APCs to the Osun Police command in Osogbo.
He noted that when government fails to guarantee safety of lives and property, such government had no business to be in power.
Aregbesola, who is re-contesting the governorship position of the state come August 9, 2014 said security, safety and the welfare of the people were the primary responsibilities of any government as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.
His words: “Security is the most essential responsibility of a responsible government. When a government fails to provide security, it has no business in power”.
At the hand-over ceremony of the equipment, which cost tax-payers N1.3 billion, the governor lamented what he called the Federal Government’s penchant for playing politics with crucial security matters, even as his government fulfilled its promise to further equip the state police command with additional 20 sophisticated APCs.
