The Arewa Community, Ogun State chapter, on Friday threw its weight behind the Social Democratic Party ahead of the March 28 and April elections.
The endorsement of the party was made known by the Chairman of the Forum, Hadi Sanni, at a press conference held at Iwe-Iroyin Press Centre, Abeokuta. He was accompanied by hundreds of community members.
According to Sanni, the endorsement agreement was reached after the entire executive members of the body critically examined all the tremendous effort of former governor and leader of the SDP, Otunba Segun Osoba, to make life meaningful for them while he was governor of the state.
“With utmost humility and all sense of responsibility, the entire Arewa Community, which encompasses all Northerners in Ogun State, after an adequate consultation and diplomatic deliberation has finally reach an unanimous conciliation of endorsing the leadership structure of Social Democratic Party for the forthcoming election”, Mr. Sanni said.
“With our heart full of joy and happiness, we wholeheartedly pledge our absolute support for our great, passionate and progressives candidates of the party”.
Mr. Sanni expressed the hope of the community that if the SDP got power, some of their members would be part of the government.
He also said members in the community had resolved to commence intensive campaign in support of SDP.
The community commended Mr. Osoba for always being with them, even after leaving office.
