A 33-year-old Nigerian Army personnel, Lance Corporal Yusuf Yunnusa, has been arrested by the police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for attempting to sell a stolen vehicle.
The arrest was disclosed by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, via a post on his X handle on Sunday.
According to Makama, Yunnusa, who is attached to the 82 Battalion in Rukuba, Plateau State, was apprehended at about 4:30 p.m. on April 19 at Mamu Filling Station in Lambata, Kwali Area Council.

The arrest followed actionable intelligence indicating an attempt to sell a Toyota Corolla without proper documentation.
“The security personnel swiftly launched a surveillance operation that resulted in Yunnusa’s arrest. A Toyota Corolla LE, with registration number ABC 570 FJ and ash-colored exterior, was recovered from the suspect,” Makama stated.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from its parking spot at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja on April 17, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m.
Yunnusa reportedly confessed to stealing the car and transporting it to Kwali with the intention of selling it before he was intercepted by the police.
The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation.
