EPL legend Gary Lineker has suggested that Mikel Arteta is taking a leaf out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s playbook. This comes as Arsenal contend with a staggering number of international withdrawals, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, club managers pressuring players to pull out of their national teams is nothing new, and it is simply their own way of ensuring they remain injury-free during non-competitive windows.

Lineker added that he was under the same pressure when he played, but he resisted and featured regularly for England.
His words, “All managers have done that but generally it’s down to the players. The manager would always pressure you to pull out of friendlies in particular. It happened to me a couple of times and on both occasions I said no chance.”
Shearer added, “It’s not surprising, it happens and it goes on. You’ve got to look at it from his point of view, the club’s point of view. I guess they’re looking at it and trying to make history.”
WOW.
