On Thursday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar stormed the ancient City of Lokoja, which serves as the capital of Kogi State, in an effort to persuade the public to vote for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election for governor, which will take place on November 11.
Atiku, who criticized the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, for reportedly denying the PDP the use of Confluence Stadium Lokoja to host their campaign rally, stated that it was time to sack the ruling APC in order to put an end to unfavorable policies in Kogi State. Atiku made this statement while criticizing Yahaya Bello for allegedly denying the PDP the use of the stadium.
They refused to let us use the stadium for our rally in Osun State, so we ended up having to hold it in the party headquarters instead. After everything was said and done, the PDP expelled them from the government residence.
Now they are trying to prevent us from arriving by preventing us from using the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja and by booking all of the hotels in the area. You all came to the party secretariat to express solidarity and support for Senator Dino Melaye, despite the fact that they did what they did.
According to him, the election of Dino Melaye as Governor of Kogi State will lead to improved governance as well as increased economic growth in the state.
“Dino is a dedicated individual who is also brave and driven. In contrast to the current leadership in Kogi State, he does not engage in the practice of murdering innocent citizens. Atiku made the following statement: “I am appealing to you to come out and vote for people and defend your vote.”
Dino Melaye, the candidate for governor of the state representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), made this pledge while speaking in front of a big throng of his supporters.
His exact remarks were, “Out of the 18 candidates for governor, I am the one with the most education, the most experience, and the most exposure.” In the state of Kogi, it is high time to put an end to practices such as percentage salaries, corruption, retrenchment, and the non-payment of pensions. Yahaya Bello was responsible for the unjustified firing of every civil servant. Within the next three months, we will bring them all back into good standing. Do not cast your ballot for any low-profile political party that is lacking a political fallopian tube.
I would like it brought to everyone’s attention that the current government in Kogi has prevented us from holding this rally at any of the available locations. Those loyal to this administration have stopped our people while they were traveling from Kogi East and have begun shooting at them. In spite of everything they did, our followers gathered here because they were sick of the tyranny of Governor Bello.
Idris Wada, a former governor of Kogi State, made a number of statements in which he claimed that despite the many accomplishments that were accomplished by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently in power, had thrown the state backwards with poverty, a poor economy, and underdevelopment.
He stated that the seven and a half years that the APC has been in power in Kogi State have been a waste, and he added that the time has come for the people of Kogi to put an end to poor leadership.
“During the time that I was employed here, percentage salaries were not offered. The workers continued to smile as they went to the bank despite the fact that their salaries were paid on time. During the administration of the People’s Democratic Party, there was a significant amount of progress made. On the other hand, the situation is currently the opposite. It is past time for the People’s State to break free of the tyranny of the dictatorship. They ought to exercise their democratic rights and vote for Dino Melaye.
On his part, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, who once represented Kogi West in the state legislature, stated that it is time for the people of Kogi State to save the state from poor administration.
Ogbeha took use of the opportunity to warn the residents of Kogi State not to let themselves be intimidated, promising his followers that their safety will be ensured on the day of the poll.
Uche Secondus, a former national chairman of the PDP, has added his voice to the chorus of people calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the various institutions in charge of national security to hold elections that are free and fair.
According to him, the state of Kogi is in desperate need of repositioning; as a result, it is imperative that the people turn out to vote for his party on election day.
