Media Adviser and spokesperson to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Paul Ibe, has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign, citing what he described as the Federal Government’s failure to effectively address the country’s security challenges.
Ibe made the call while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, where he argued that the foremost responsibility of any government is to guarantee the security and welfare of its citizens.
According to him, Nigeria is currently less secure than it was in 2023, claiming that recent statistics indicate that 879 people have been killed while nearly 300 others remain in captivity.

He described the figures as alarming and reflective of the worsening insecurity across the country.
“The primary responsibility of government is security and welfare. Are we more secure now than we were in 2023? The answer is no,” Ibe said.
“According to statistics, 879 people have been killed, and nearly 300 are in captivity. Those statistics are very frightening. That’s a snapshot of the pervasive insecurity that we have.”
He further argued that the government’s efforts to tackle insecurity had not produced the desired results, stressing that the country could not continue with what he termed a “trial-and-error” approach to governance.
“The government’s efforts are not good enough. We can’t continue on this journey of trial and error. The truth of the matter is that Tinubu is incompetent and clueless,” he added.
Ibe’s remarks come amid ongoing concerns over insecurity in several parts of the country, including incidents of banditry, kidnapping and violent attacks.
