As defeated presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is contesting the result of the presidential election in court, son of late elder statesman, Samuel Ogbemudia Jr has said the former vice president’s decision is simply a distraction meant to destabilize Buhari in his quest to develop Nigeria.
In an interview with Vanguard, he begged Buhari to instead increase his effort to reshape the country for development and concentrate on the security of the common Nigerian.
His words, “I see his going to the tribunal is a distraction from the power sector probe and the oil blocs’ allocation because they believe that if they just keep quiet, the probe may tell on them. Although the probe will continue that is what they are just trying to distract the world from.
“They know they cannot succeed with what they want, there is no way they can get the presidency through the court, it is just a distraction for this government. They want to use anyway to distract this government that is what they want. They want to distract the government from the main objectives, part of which is that they should return our $16b and let our power sector work and also the oil sector, the oil bloc licenses for individuals should not be renewed, the oil licenses should be given to the states”
“He should improve on his good works, he should continue what he is doing but at the same time increase the monitoring of what is being done and coming into the country. We are fighting global terrorism, terrorist organisations from all around the world, not just Nigeria, they are all over the world but they see Nigeria as a fertile ground to come and live because they feel there are a lot of loopholes that will enable survive here so Buhari should do more in tackling that.
“He should check sales of illegal drugs, fake products coming into the country because they see Nigerian as a dumping ground for those things”
