The nation’s power sector has recorded yet another national peak generation, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said on Saturday. Ms Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at the TCN, disclosed this in a statement. She stated that Nigeria recorded a peak power generation of 5,520.40MW at about 9:15pm on Friday, 60.90MW higher than the previous 5.459MW recorded on Wednesday. The TCN spokesperson explained that the new national peak was a result of continued collaboration among players and the gradual increase of capacity in the power sector. The police have arrested 93 suspects in connection with the looting and vandalisation of public and private properties in various parts of Kaduna State. Mr Umar Muri, the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna, disclosed this on Saturday while briefing reporters on the security situation in the state. The United States forces say they have rescued an American citizen who is being held hostage in northern Nigeria. In a statement, Jonathan Hoffman, the Pentagon spokesman, said the rescue operation was conducted on Saturday morning. Microsoft has disclosed that it will be redirecting users to its new chromium edge browser. A post on Microsoft’s page reveals that the transition will start from the third week of November. Unidentified hoodlums have allegedly attacked a police station in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, killing an officer and cutting off his manhood. In addition, the hoodlums also made away with the deceased cop’s rifle. The seven Nigerian men who were arrested after an attempted hijack of a UK-bound ship from Lagos have been granted bail. The alleged culprits were earlier arrested at gunpoint on board the Nave Andromeda by the Special Boat Service (SBS). BT has selected Ericsson as its 5G partner in London and other major UK cities. The move will allow BT to switch away from Huawei hardware which it has been ordered to stop using by the British government; citing security concerns.
