Following the collapse of power grid in the nation; the Transmission Company of Nigeria has released an update to put the minds of Nigerians at rest. The Transmission Company of Nigeria, in a post on it’s page stated that the collapse of the power grid is as a result of multiple trippings which occurred yesterday morning. In view of this, the TCN has commenced the restoration of the grid system and power power has been restored across the country; however the only places where power is yet to be restored are Gombe, Jos, Calabar, Makurdi, Ugwuaji, Makurdi and Yola axis.…

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, have noted that Nigeria’s external reserves are sufficient to meet up with imports of goods and services for the next seven months. This he stated during the 55th Annual Bankers Dinner organised by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria which held in Lagos. The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the commencement of installation of 5 million solar home systems in under-served and off-grid communities across the country. This is done in continuation of the implementation of the Economic Sustainability Plan. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has alerted the general public against the use of Tafrodol Drugs by Deep Pharmaceutical, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. NAFDAC stated that the active ingredients for Tafrodol subject to the manufacturer are Tapentadol Hcl 100mg and Carisoprodol 125mg. NAFDAC stated that Tapentadol is an opioid analgesic and Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has announced that it has been informed by the United Kingdom’s Medicine and Healthcare Product Regulatory Agency, of the withdrawal of Boots Dermacare 1% w/w Hydrocortisone Ointment, by Boots Company PLC because Pseudomonas aeruginosa was discovered in the medication. NAFDAC stated that Boots Dermacare 1% w/w Hydrocortisone is used to reduce swelling, treat eczema, allergic contact dermatitis and insect bites. In line with the recommendation of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank; the Central Bank Of Nigeria has reduced the value of naira compared to Dollar by #6. The devaluation is to achieve a unified exchange rate between the local currency and USD. In respect of the new rates, the International Monetary Transfer Service Operators sell dollar to banks at N388 per dollar, a figure higher than the previous rate of N382 per dollar. A Popular Lagos plastic surgeon, Dr Anu Adepoju has been reportedly suspended for conducting a plastic surgery which later turned out worse on the patient. The patient reportedly developed multiple organ failure of cardiac, respiratory and renal failures, which led to her eventual death.
