Information has reached the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) from United Kingdom Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), of the withdrawal of one batch of high blood pressure medication, Amlodipine 10mg tablets manufactured by Accord Healthcare Limited.
According to NAFDAC, the medication was withdrawn as a precautionary measure subject to falsification of specification results for tablet description, hardness, and average weight obtained during stability testing.
NAFDAC noted that the Amlodipine tablet being withdrawn is 10mg in quantity, produced by Accord Healthcare Limited, London UK, Batch Number GY0128 and expiry date is November 2021.
NAFDAC has in view of this implored all importers, wholesalers, and retailers to stop the importation, distribution, and use of the Amlodipine 10mg tablets.
NAFDAC has thus advised patients and healthcare providers to report adverse effects they experience using this product to the nearest NAFDAC office,or through pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng.
