A non-governmental and advocacy group, Citizens Quest for Truth Initiative, has thrown its weight behind the recent call for the reconstitution of the substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by stakeholders in the region, saying it is highly commendable. The NGO in a statement signed and circulated to journalists by its Founder/President, Chief Obiaruko Ndukwe said, “We at Citizens’ Quest for Truth Initiative align ourselves to this clarion call. We are, however, averse to the 7-day ultimatum issued to President Muhammadu Buhari by Chief Tompolo to reconstitute the board or “risk a total breakdown of law and…

The discordant tunes in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that once held sway for 16 years in the reins of power in Nigeria has taken a new turn as a major plan was hatched over a year now by the governors elected under the party in the old Eastern region. The decision to swell up the ranks of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC), by these Governors who have actually held tight the party’s stronghold in the South East and the South-South States is part of a planned coup to ouster the owners of APC in a bid to…

It was a pleasant surprise when I got a call from Barrister Uchenna Orji, the workaholic Ebonyi State Commissioner of Information, through whom I and the entire world have read much about the magic being ignited by the incumbent Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi in the State. The call was for me to join him on a project/facility tour of most of the key projects this energetic and visionary leader of this dispensation has achieved in less than six years. Having heard so much about the gale of projects permeating the nooks and crannies of the once…

They urge oil companies to ignore seven days ultimatum, justify forensic audit and the appointment of the sole administrator. The leaders also queried the rationality of the ultimatum given to international oil firms to vacate the Niger Delta region. “There is no reason for any such thing.” Leader of South-South Front (SSF), Chief John Harry and other notable leaders in the zone, said the South-South had fared better in the last few years under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. They described the position of…
The conversation elicited since the Asaba declaration of the Southern Governors of Nigeria is still ongoing but not with the unexpected clap back from different groups and individuals. Since the decision by the Governors to ban the much controversial Open Grazing, there has been a round of applause for the once regarded docile leaders, cutting across party lines, ethnicity, and religion. After a successful meeting hosted by the Delta State Governor in the wake of the rising insecurity in the country, trickling from the North and gradually spreading to the South, there has been a disturbing disquiet from their Northern…

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has frowned at the appointment of former Rivers South/East Senator, Magnus Ngei Abe, into the Legal Process and Security and Special Engagements Sub-Committees of the All Progressives Congress by the Mohammed Abubakar-led Contact & Strategy Committee of the party. Eze states that the APC Leadership’s continued romance with Abe even after he vehemently refused to revalidate membership is antithetical to progress, encourages unfaithfulness, rebellion; and therefore demands an urgent reversal of the party’s action.
