The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said recently that the nation’s current crude oil production had gone up to 2.35 million barrels per day. The Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Maikanti Baru said this at the inauguration of the members of the corporation’s re-constituted anti corruption committee in Abuja. He said : “In the upstream, we have also been making strides in the stability and security in the Niger-Delta and production is coming back steadily. “At one point, we have reached the level of almost 2.35 million barrels per day, including condensates, which accounts for about 400,000 barrels per day.”…
Mr Haruna Mshelia, the Borno State Commissioner for Health, on Thursday said that one suspected case of Lassa fever was recently reported in the state. Mshelia told newsmen in Maiduguri, that the case was reported in Zabarmari community of Jere local government area of the state. “The patient was discharged after medical examination certified him free of Lassa fever infection. “It is medically proven that the case was not Lassa fever as earlier suspected,” he said. “Assorted drugs are distributed to endemic areas. “State preparedness for endemic disease such as cholera is in place”.
The Kwara state government has rejected all reports of an alleged outbreak of a mystery sickness that consumed 70 lives in Oro-Ago community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state. The State’s Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Suleiman Alege, on Friday told newsmen in Ilorin, that the report is nothing but a rumor as the ministry has no confirmed outbreak of disease or fatalities in any part of the state. A 22-year-old man in Abeokuta, who has allegedly contacted Lassa Fever, is under medical observation at the State General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
