The Ministry of Finance has denied claims by Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, that it is refusing to release the statutory allocation due to the state. Fayose had earlier accused the ministry of withholding the funds and causing his people to suffer. The Federal Government is reportedly set to hand over Shiite leader, Sheikh Zakzaky, to the Kaduna State government for trial. It was gathered that the handing over was authorized by the Attorney General of the judgment (AGF), Malami Abubakar. A Federal High Court in Lagos has given the final order for former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke to forfeit about N34 billion to the Federal Government. The money, in separate sums of N23.4 billion, N9.08 billion and $5 million, was linked to Alison-Madueke by the EFCC. The order was given by presiding judge, Justice Muslim Hassan on Thursday, February 16. In reaching the decision, Justice Hassan said that the EFCC has successfully proved that the funds were proceeds of illegal activity.
