The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed has said the newly established State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) will not impose new taxes. He said it would only boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through the diversification of the state’s economy. The Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, has directed all police commands and formations in the country to desist from using commercial vehicles for operations and patrol duties. The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Force’s Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole, acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, in Abuja on Thursday. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Thursday expressed its readiness to forcibly evacuate over 2,000 household in Gangare, Zamfara, to avoid casualty in case of flood. A Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from inviting a former Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, for questioning. Justice Mohammed Yunusa ordered the EFCC to stay action on Oduah as regards the purchase of two armoured BMW cars at a cost of N255m in 2013 by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority under her watch. The Nigerian Army said it has uncovered a massive illegal oil bunkering site at the Makoba Beach in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Commander of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Brig.-Gen.
