The N4.3trillion 2015 budget has passed second reading at the Senate. The 2015 Appropriation bill was read on Wednesday by the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN). The bill seeks to authorize the issuance from the consolidated revenue fund of the federation N4, 357,960,000 (four trillion, three hundred and fifty-seven billion, nine hundred and sixty million) as against the 2014 budget of N4.6 trillion. Alhaji Hassan Ardo, the Taraba State Chairman of the All Prograssives Congress, has denied allegations that the party had expelled 90 of its members. NDLEA CHAIRMAN, AHMADU GIADE The Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has released its statistics on arrests and seizures made in 2014. According to the agency, 129 suspected drug traffickers were nabbed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, adding that the arrests indicated 16.2 per cent increase in two years. The House of Representatives on Wednesday further amended the Electoral Act 2010 to make a provision to empower the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons would vote at elections held during emergencies. The Kano State Hisbah Board has stopped a father from giving out his daughter in marriage to the man who allegedly defiled her. The Nigerian military on Wednesday said it repelled a terrorist attack in Biu, a town in Borno State. Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members had attacked the town, which is the largest in southern Borno, with the aim of capturing it. The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, which confirmed the attack through its official twitter handle, @DefenceInfoNG, said “Troops in pursuit of fleeing terrorists as mopping up operation is ongoing.
