Seven people have died and around 170,000 have been evacuated due to floods as torrential rains lash the central provinces of Hunan and Guizhou in China, according to the offical Xinhua agency. President Goodluck Jonathan has written the National Assembly seeking for approval to obtain a $1 billion loan to help the federal government in its war against terrorism and other security challenges in the country. A budget of N322.6 billion for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has been passed by the Senate at its plenary meeting on Tuesday. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta, James Manager, presented the budget to the senate. The budget breakdown contained money for personnel expenditure, overhead expenditure, capital expenditure, and projects expenditure.
