Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State yesterday disclosed that the Dutse Airport in the state capital would start commercial flights operation from July 14, 2014. Gov. A Federal High Court in Lagos State on Tuesday remanded a Pakistani, Iftikhar Muhamma Arslan, in prison for allegedly importing cocaine into Nigeria from Qatar. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke ordered that the accused be remanded in prison following his arraignment on a one-count charge by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The suspect was reportedly committed the offence on April 5, 2014, and was arrested by NDLEA officials the same day at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, during the inward screening of passengers. A bomb blast has been reported in Wuse in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. The source of the blast is yet to be ascertained, but sources said it occurred on a street close to popular Emab plaza. Bomb was said to have been placed in a red Volkswagen Golf car. The driver of the car parked between Emab and Banex plaza was said to have ran out of the car minutes before the ball went off. Boko Haram has been responsible for several attacks in recent months, shaking the world with the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls in Borno State.

Detla State-born entertainer, who only a couple of months ago publicly praised his spouse Christabel, now takes to Instagram to call her… ugly. He posted the photo of Christabel and their second child, who will turn 1 only in September, and captioned it as follows: “Beautiful daughter, ugly mother, just keeping it real@kristalugboma. Barely three days after a suspected car bomb went off at the Kano School of Hygiene, another bomb has exploded at Kasuwan Kuturu market in Mubi area of Adamawa State. The State Commissioner of Police, John Abakasanga, was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria as saying the explosion targeted a police patrol team. He said there was no casualty from the blast. Men of the Ondo State Police Command have detained a 24-year-old psychiatric patient, Iijisakin Ayoola after he reportedly stabbed his 60-year-old traditional doctor, Alfa Iliasu Waheed to death in Idanre. The suspect reportedly stabbed the traditional doctor, who specialised in healing psychiatric patients, in the neck with a broken bottle which caused his death. At least 38 persons, including women and children, were Monday night killed in separate attacks on Fadan Karshi and Nandu villages in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State. “They came around 10 p.m. last night (Monday night) and started killing people in Fadan Karshi village. Less than 50 percent of the Nigerian population currently have access to electricity, according to Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo. The minister, who disclosed this at the 15th Herbert Macaulay biennial lecture organised by the Engineering Faculty of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, yesterday, said the federal government was, however, working hard to increase access to 75 percent by 2020.
