The Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said World Bank’s “extreme poor nation” rating of Nigeria was based on the large number of poor people living in the country. Okonjo-Iweala made the clarification when she interacted with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday. A 19-year-old Nigerian girl (names withheld) has told a Federal High Court in Lagos how she was lured into prostitution in Burkina Faso. According to the teenager, she was working as a sales girl in Victoria Island, Lagos before two middle-aged men told her they could help her find a better job abroad. A boat with 26 passengers on board Wednesday capsized in Ikorodu area of Lagos State claiming the lives of eight persons. Twelve of the passengers were however lucky as they survived the accident while six others are still missing. A 36-year-old Marine Engineer, who deceived members of the public by claiming to be a senior naval officer was yesterday paraded by the Zone 2 Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos.
