The Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) unit in Oshodi motor parks and its environs, yesterday arrested at least 118 suspected hoodlums. The hoodlums, who were reportedly unleashing mayhem, were arrested by the team which stormed the area at 1:00am. Sources said that the hoodlums robbed commuters of their valuables at the early hours of yesterday. It was reported that over 160 hoodlums were initially arrested by the taskforce. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday described as false reports in some quarters that Ebola fever had been detected in Nigeria. Two youths have allegedly been killed in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jama’a local government area of Kaduna state, leading to a 24-hour curfew being imposed on the town. Former Governor of Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, has commended Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State for investing in infrastructure and manpower development. Sylva made the commendation on Wednesday in Sokoto after inspecting various development projects executed by the Wamakko Administration. The Special Adviser to the President on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, on Tuesday attributed the drop in the nation’s power supply to massive sabotage of the nation’s gas pipelines across the country. He said this led to loss of about 4,000mw and the attendant drop in power supply currently felt by Nigerians.
