Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, announced on Friday the temporary suspension of the controversial $300 helicopter landing fee.
This decision follows the rejection of the fee by the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), who argued that it was commercially detrimental.
According to a statement by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Odutayo Oluseyi, a committee has been established to address the concerns raised by stakeholders and is expected to submit a report by the end of June.

The statement reads: “Following a meeting with the AON executive on the issue of helicopter landing levies at aerodromes, helipads, airstrips, etc., Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has temporarily suspended the enforcement granted to Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd by the Federal Government, effective from May 30, 2024. This suspension is in response to calls for a review by industry stakeholders.
“Accordingly, Keyamo has constituted a committee with members from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, its relevant agencies, the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), International Oil Companies (IOCs), and Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd.
The committee is tasked with examining the issues raised by stakeholders and submitting a report by the end of June 2024.
“Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd was previously granted the exclusive right by the Federal Government to collect these levies, which stakeholders have questioned.
The committee’s recommendations will provide a way forward.”
