The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has suspended a Permanent Secretary, Oludare Abegunde, and three others over alleged misuse and vandalism of some government facilities.
According to a statement by the Governor’s press secretary, Idowu Adelusi on Sunday, May 14, 2017, Abegunde and three others at the Ministry of Agriculture were suspended over alleged misuse and vandalism of some government facilities under their care.
Gov Fayose gave the directive while paying an inspection visit to the state-owned Broiler Processing Facility in Erifun, Ado-Ekiti and the livestock pens.
A disgusted Fayose expressed dissatisfaction that barely three years after the inauguration of the facility, the cooling system and the power generator had been vandalised by some unknown persons.
Condemning the poor attitude of the officers in charge of the facility, the unhappy governor ordered their suspension.
“This is a poor and bad attitude we must stop. Public facilities are provided through the use of pubic funds and must therefore be used judiciously,” he said.
Fayose, who decried the misuse of public utilities by the public and government officials, lamented that such had become a drain of public resources.
To this end, Fayose directed the Head of Service, Dr Gbenga Faseluka, to constitute a panel to probe the activities of the officials.
