A five member Student Liaison Committee has been inaugurated with the mandate to liaise between the Bayelsa Government and various student bodies in the State to ensure a harmonious relationship between them.
Inaugurating members of the committee at the Executive Council Chambers in Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Seriake Dickson charged them to notify Government of the problems and other needs of students towards ensuring their welfare and wellbeing.
Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Chief Salo Adikumo, the Governor reminded the committee of Government’s huge investment in education as it remains the cornerstone of the restoration Government and stressed the need to consolidate on the gains made so far in the sector.
He said the committee also has the responsibility of ensuring peace and stability among student union bodies and called on them to discharge their responsibilities creditably.
Barrister Ago Agorodi, who is to serve as Chairman of the committee and Moses Robert Odo represent Bayelsa East senatorial district while other members, Moso Duenize and Zimokpoemi Okoya Ogoniba are representing Central senatorial district with Oweibi Prince representing West.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Barrister Ago Agorodi thanked Governor Dickson for the opportunity given to them to serve and pledged to work as a team to protect the interests of Government and students in the State.
