The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly caucus in Benue State has refuted claims of factionalization within the party in the state.
The state chapter of the ruling party has been embroiled in turmoil following a rift between Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, over leadership of the party structure.
In a statement issued on Monday by Hon. Philip Agbese, the joint spokesman of the National Assembly caucus, it was asserted that Benue APC is united and has no faction.

Agbese dismissed those suggesting otherwise as “desperate comedians struggling for roles in Nollywood.”
The lawmakers affirmed Akume’s leadership position within the party in Benue State, in accordance with APC’s doctrine and philosophy.
They also stated that Austin Agada, who was previously removed by his ward, remains the state chairman as per the party’s constitution and the National Working Committee’s directives.
Agbese questioned Governor Alia’s desire to be compared to Akume, highlighting Akume’s extensive political experience as a governor, senator, minister, and current SGF, compared to Alia’s relatively short time in office.
The caucus members emphasized their commitment to the party’s principles and stated that they do not claim leadership titles in their constituencies, respecting the seniority and leadership of other prominent party members in Benue State.
