President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Germany to a warm reception ahead of the G7 Summit in Bavaria. He was accompanied by former governors Babatunde Fashola and Kashim Shettima.
Buhari traveled to Germany for the summit on invitation from German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He was received on arrival by the Vice Minister-President of Bavaria, Mrs. Inge Aigner.
He will participate in the G-7 Outreach program for invited heads of government and global institutions, including President Jacob Zuma of South Africa, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, President Macky Sall of Senegal, President Beji Caid Essebsi of Tunisia and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn of Ethiopia.
While he will not be part of the main session, Buhari will be able to meet world leaders, especially President Barrack Obama of the United States, who is expected to meet with President Buhari on the sidelines of the G7 meetings. He will also hold bilateral talks with Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, as well as meet President Francois Hollande of France, Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain, and other G-7 leaders who will be present at the Outreach Session and a working lunch at the Elmau Castle, the lavish German resort hosting the G7 Summit.
