President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the dissolution of the board of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
“President Muhammadu Buhari has dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with immediate effect,” a statement announced on Friday by Haruna R. Imrana, Director Communications office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
The National oil company has in recent years been accused of large scale corruption, but no one has been prosecuted. An independent audit ordered by the federal government in 2014 concluded that the corporation has an outstanding $1.48 billion to pay to the government. It is yet to pay the government.
