Muhammadu-BuhariNnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe’s lawsuit challenging the academic credentials of President Muhammadu Buhari has been adjourned indefinitely.

According to a report by Vanguard Newspaper, the suit was heard by Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, June 16, 2016 with the President’s 13 Senior Advocate of Nigeria in attendance.

Justice Ademola in his ruling, adjourned the case indefinitely following a notice of appeal filed by the representatives of President Buhari.

On Wednesday, June 15, 2016, the ‘league of SANs’ led by Wole Olanipekun had appealed against a previous ruling of the court dismissing his preliminary objection to the suit filed by Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe.

Others SANs defending the President include Lateef O. Fagbemi (SAN), Akin Olujinmi (SAN), Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu (SAN), Kola Awodein (SAN), Taiwo Osipitan (SAN), Charles Edosomwan (SAN), Emeka Ngige (SAN), Femi Atoyebi (SAN), Femi Falana (SAN), Funke Aboyade (SAN), H.O. Afolabi and 10 other counsels.

Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe, an Abuja based lawyer, had argued in his suit that the President was not qualified to run for president because he did not possess the minimum qualification to run for the office.

The lawyer also alleged that Buhari did not sit for the Cambridge West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1961 as he claimed when he presented his credentials to contest for the seat of the Nigerian President in 2015.
